QPRIME

The Queensland Police Service is currently preparing to implement a single, new policing information system that will consolidate and replace many of the numerous information systems currently being used in the Service.

When fully implemented, QPRIME (Queensland Police Records and Information Management Exchange) will be used to manage most policing incidents and conduct performance reporting, task management and information analysis. Due to the large scope of the QPRIME Project, it is being implemented in three phases, commencing in early 2006.

The QPRIME integrated policing solution will comprise:

• QPRIME - a Commercial-off-the-Shelf law enforcement information system, Niche RMS, being supplied by Niche Technology Inc., Canada, which will enable all police incidents to be recorded and managed in a single system;
• QPRIME Analysis - a suite of reporting and Information Analysis tools which will enable police to easily access and analyse information held in QPRIME; and
• QPRIME Mapping - a mapping and Geographical Information System linked to QPRIME, which will enable police to map incidents, places of interest and policing boundaries.

QPRIME Objectives:

• To reduce the administrative burden for operational police;
• To improve the effectiveness of operational policing;
• To improve the efficiency of operational policing;
• To enhance the targeting of operational police time and resources;
• To improve system availability, flexibility and support costs;
• To reduce crime;
• To increase public confidence;
• To provide a strategic platform for future initiatives;
• To improve value through quality integrated incident information; and
• To improve service delivery to the community.
