Case Records. Corrections cases represent an 'open case' in either custody or community corrections. The case remains open until all custody and probation orders have expired and the offender is no longer under jurisdiction. Case worker assignments record an offender's probation officer, custody case manager, and other staff who have been assigned responsibility in a case.
Cases windows record offence types and issues, providing an overview for each case. Charges and dispositions are linked to cases, and dispositions record all the information required for automatic sentence calculation. By recording case information separately from the charges you get more accurate and concise descriptions of cases and improve case management decisions. Preventive security information appears throughout COMS. Cautions, separations, gang lists, and incident reports all help to improve institutional security. In addition, you can limit access to running record entries marked as 'sensitive' so that only staff with specific security roles can access those particular records. Movements, admissions, releases & transfers (M.A.R.T.) track current and historical offender locations. You can run reports to list the offenders in a particular unit over any range of dates in the past. This is particularly useful for incident investigations. Risk assessment tools can also be incorporated, using the Risk Assessment instrument of your choice. Offender status history records current and past status events. Offenders may have more than one current status. For example, an offender might be serving a custody sentence, be on remand for another charge, and be under an immigration hold. Remand review dates are recorded, and a remand review report may be printed whenever required. Program Tracking. To aid in program evaluation, programs and work assignments are tracked, along with program attendance, progress notes, and pre- and post-program scoring. Inmate pay can be tied in to work attendance. Sentences. Automatic sentence calculation takes all dispositions, fine defaults, remission lost or not earned, and periods UAL into account to determine the expected release date and the warrant expiry date, as well as secure to open dates for young offenders.
